Research Technologist (S)- Research Assistant
Duration: One-Year Contract
The South African Medical Research Council, Gender and Health Research Unit (GHRU) requires suitably qualified and experienced Research Technologist (S) - Research Assistant to coordinate our disability and SRHR-related research and training projects.
Responsibilities:
- providing administrative support to the study investigator
- support project coordination
- administering registration/reimbursement of participants
- administering informed consent
- screening/enrolling as per protocol
- Conducting surveys or facility assessments – quantitative data entry
- conducting in-depth Interviews
- facilitating focus group discussions
- translating and back-translation of documents
- updating of study logs and management of source documentation
- conducting routine maintenance of interview equipment and reporting on instrument failure
- conducting external Interactions for study updates and quality of data
- participating in conference calls for study updates and quality control as per protocol
- supporting coding and analysis
- supporting report writing
- supporting community engagement with persons with disabilities
Core Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in social sciences, education, psychology, disability studies or similar field
- 1-2 years’ experience in research, social sciences or related environment
- 1 years’ experience using qualitative or quantitative methods for data collection
- Experience working with people with disabilities
- Transcription and translation skills
- Data collection experience either qualitative or quantitative
- MS Office
- Experiencing using data entry tools such as RedCap, Kobotoolbox etc.
Advantageous:
- Any experience greater than that which is stated above

A salary in the region of R 293 027 per annum, cost-to-company will be offered dependent on qualifications and research experience
